Do you require a referral from my doctor?

We Don’t! Maine is a “direct access” state, meaning you do not need to see your doctor or get a referral from them before we begin PT. This eliminates extra steps, such as waiting for, and paying for a doctor’s office visit! You can begin treatment earlier this way, and avoid unnecessary barriers to recovering! Contact us today to schedule an appointment.

Can my insurance company reimburse me?

Maybe! Rochelle will provide you with a ‘superbill’ at the end of your sessions with all the information you’d need to submit for reimbursement. If you are interested in reimbursement, it is best to call your insurance company and ask “what are my out-of-network physical therapy benefits?” and they’ll be able to tell you if you can get money back for physical therapy. If you have Medicare, unfortunately you won’t be able to submit for reimbursement under Medicare guidelines.

What can a Physical Therapist do for me?

A doctor in physical therapy has the ability to work with you without you needing to go to your doctor first to get a referral. This will save you time and money! Rochelle is a specialized PT because she has extensive training in manual therapy. This means that she is good at massage techniques, as well as joint mobilization to restore optimal posture and alignment. Physical Therapists are expert in assessing your movement and body mechanics during your activities like walking, running, exercising, gardening, working etc. to address and fix abnormalities that could be causing pain and troubles. Rochelle is also certified in Dry Needling which she will recommend if it’s a good fit for you. PT’s also treat neurologic conditions and Rochelle has extensive training in treating people with Parkinson Disease, difficulty balancing, and fear of falling.

What should I wear?

For physical therapy it is important to have access to visibly examine and treat your body, muscles and tissues directly.  Please wear or bring with you a pair of loose comfortable clothes.

Do you take my insurance?

Rochelle’s PT Studio is an out-of-network provider. This is because insurance-based physical therapy can often lead to a lower value treatment experience for patients. Being out-of-network means your plan of care is tailored to specifically suit your needs. It allows for maximum flexibility, without third party limitations on time, visits, or what your PT can do for you.

What can I expect during my first appointment?

Rochelle will first listen to your history and story about your pain or issue. Then during her PT exam, she will identify the cause of your symptoms so you will have answers and a plan to address your concern by the end of the session. She might also use manual therapy to decrease your pain, and teach you ways to gain control over your pain right away on the first visit.
